This Christmas; Let's Believe

We’re near Christmas and this time always brings some far-fetched ideas and memories into my mind. The last Christmas was spent roving around warm bookshops and discovering a new energy in both of us; sitting in a park after hours (for us) after this nice ‘chai’ at our favourite tea place in Connaught Place. It was spent looking at creatures of all shapes and sizes, and looking at each other just to understand what went on in the other’s mind. Oh, it was one amazing experience. Not Santa Claus or big Christmas trees, but yes, the spirit was lived.

This Christmas, I see around and I see a pattern emerging. With this Christmas, comes a reminder of belief. Belief, in everything. From the tiny elves working their ass off at the North Pole to the beggar who suddenly vanished from right in front of your eyes. I wonder about the strength of a belief. How it makes the world go around. You see, it’s not just the feeling that comes with believing, it’s much more. There are whole lives connected to this one word, this one effect. I personally, have seen what amazing work belief in one small thing has done. Just believing that it’s going to work out because you did that thing or you completed that ritual or you offered this much money, is one wonder in itself. You put so much on that thing, that ritual, that offering.

I won’t go into the details of what believing and unbelieving really is. Nor am I going to contest either of them or go into details of how and why everything can’t be left on destiny and faith alone. I won’t do all that here, because his one’s for the people out there, all of you, who believe. All of you who have that tiniest bit of or the most huge amount of faith and belief in anything. And who believe that so much can happen if you just trust it. Believe in it. Because sometimes, all that a person or a thing or an existence needs, is some sort of belief in its capabilities.

After all, Tinkle Bell came back to life only when the children chanted the statement- ‘I do believe in fairies’ over and over again. She lived, she existed only because someone believed she did.

Merry Christmas!

=)
